Hotel near Madeleine Church

The Church of the Madeleine is located on the Place de la Madeleine and is a typical example of the neoclassical style.
It was designed in 1806 by Napoleon 1st to celebrate the glory of his Grand Army, it was not until 1845 that it became a church.
Royal foundation, it was one element of the extension of the capital to the west in the middle of the eighteenth century. Before becoming the parish of the Elysee and the sanctuary very international business district, frequented by artists and tourists, St. Mary Magdalen has been proposed for different uses. Printemps

Founded in 1865, the Printemps was created by Jules Jaluzot. Combining audacity, prudence and innovation, he conceived the most modern shop of his time. Jules Jaluzot adapts the movements of the end of the 19th century, the development of Paris. He foresaw the progress in terms of industrial production, the extension of the city to the west, the construction of the Opera Garnier and the development of traffic within the capital. He builds his “shopping cathedral” in the Saint-Lazare area, still peripherial and quiet at the time. Today, Printemps is one of the most famous meeting point for shopaholics!

The Galeries Lafayette

In 1895, the first “Galerie Lafayette” is launched: it is a dry goods store owned by Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn.
