Exhibition Edvard Munch in Paris

Edvard Munch (1863-1944) is wrongly known only to a single work: The Scream. Awareness of this iconic painting certainly has meant to conceal the true size and true message of the artist. So a new day as the Pinacotheque presents this unique man until July 18th. Drawings, paintings, sculptures, collages, photographs and films, Munch has been consistently pushing the boundaries between media and technology. With these overruns, but no limits for his age, this accomplished artist leaves a deeply moving work. Edvard Munch fits brilliantly in the tradition of William Turner and a Gustave Courbet, but with an unmistakable.

Maison de poupée

In the play Maison de Poupée -A Doll’s House-, Audrey Tautou portrays Nora, a woman who despite her perfect life (a nice home, a husband and children), will create a scandal in the nineteenth century. Carefree, she plays with life, with others and with herself to the point of no return. This play by Ibsen shows a modern nineteenth century, with all the fantasies and clichés from that time. To quote the author so well: “Life is not sad – life is ridiculous and that’s unbearable!“. A man who apparently caught it long before feminism today, the status of women of his time.

Music lovers, stop! La Maison Rouge from February 19th to May 16 will display a collection of album covers unique long play records. Result of more than 30 years of collecting, this accumulation of arty rock items has been orchestrated by Guy Schraenen a Belgian publisher. The exhibition is a journey over the ages and styles: 20’s avant-garde, Dadaism, Futurism, Pop Art or New Realism, everything is there. We love rediscovering some records of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones or even Peter Blake, Andy Warhol, Laurie Anderson and William Burroughs. Artists have been transformed into icons.

Vinyl, discs and covers of artists, from February 19 to May 16, 2010.

Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Late opening on Thursday until 9pm.

The Stranglers

The legendary British band The Stranglers will occur March 25th on the scene of the Bataclan. Representative of an entire generation, born when the group Sex Pistols and The Clash mark the spirits, The Stranglers through the bass playing of Jean-Jacques Burnel and Dave Greenfield keyboards. Christian Fleur, master of the house since the opening of the facility, gave his cap to his son Julien, who concocts a family cuisine meals from old France (sweetbreads and foie gras). Divine and above reproach, the Persil Fleur only works with fresh products. For dessert, we recommend the crepe generously covered with praline hazelnut liqueur. A specialty of the house!
